Day 90/365

Today I have done a little experiment to

see what I can do with a different setting.

Sample 1, I just snapped

I forgot to check what setting it was on,

but after going into the info button on the camera

I discovered it was still on Sunset in the Scenes Mode.

the other settings are as follows;

f 2.8

shutter 1/250

exposure 0.0

hi colour

ISO 80

Not bad but nothing special,

nothing really in focus, but overall still not bad.

Sample 2, I changed to Priority setting

so that I could play with the exposure, I wanted to make

the sky appear white. This

is basically an auto setting that allows you to

change exposure and flash settings.

The settings are;

f 2.8

shutter 1/640

exposure +1.0

priority setting

Natural colour

ISO 200

Way over exposed not happy with any of the photo.

Sample 3

Still in Priority setting, but altered the angle

that I took the photo, changing the auto settings.
f 4.0

shutter 1/640

exposure 1.0

natural colour

ISO 200

again not happy, hard to focus on the foreground

bringing the trees into focus and losing the subject.

Sample 4

I felt that the previous shots were too

wishy-washy so adjusted the exposure

to get something more suitable.

Still on priority setting,

f 4.0

shutter 1/640

exposure 0.7

natural colour

ISO 200

Much happier with this photo.

The background is softer, leaving the

foreground enough in focus to draw the eye

to the subject of the photo, without being too harsh.

I probably could have played a little bit more,

and tried some more settings but I was

on my way to work, and parked in the middle

of the driveway, so I had to move my butt.

I can see I will have to have another play some

other time. I should write these things

down in a notebook and leave it

with the camera, cause I am

sure I will forget what I done.

How was your weather today.

We started with a beautiful sunny day,

and it went downhill from there.

First came the wind, then the clouds,

then the rain, then stronger wind,

then it got extremely cold, the sun

tried to shine again, and now it it cold and raining.

Hope the weather is better tomorrow, not ready for

it to be winter already.

get a day off and the sun is out.

Day 89/365

How close did I come to capturing a Dolphin? not close enough.

This is the only one I managed to capture, sorry

but all I managed was his back.

We ventured further around the rocks to get away

from the wind and found this honeycomb rock.

Then I could not resist taking this photo of the shells

with the wet rocks behind.

Then Tiff found this cute mussel shell full

of smaller shells. Wonder if someone put them

there or if it was nature.

I was trying to take a photo of Tiff without

her eyes closed, the glare from the sun was too strong.

But I did manage this profile shot that I really like.

That was going to be it for the day,

and then Mark rang and said go take a photo of the front

coming up the coast, he was hoping

the setting sun would make it shine, but

by the time I got there it was just like a big

dark curtain over the water.

This one was taken at Cuttagee, I did

get some from up the road a bit where

Tiff was sitting on the stockyard but they

are not brilliant.

I just took a snap or 2 of the setting sun,

told you I am addicted to taking photos of that.

If you right click on this one, you can

see the different colours of the hills as they

get further away.

Then Tiff climbed up on this stock yard thing,

how could I not take a pic of that.

It was blowing a gale and the poor girl

was freezing, she is trying hard not to shiver.

On to Cuttagee for a look, and wow how

happy am I with the colours in these photos,

it was really hard to drag myself away,

I could have taken hundreds of photos.

I really was going to do some scrapping today,

but taking photos got in the way,

I promise tomorrow to take

less photos, or at least

to load less to my blog.

Day 88/365

Look what Tiff and I found today,

I had read about this rock in Narooma,

but never knew where it was.

We had spare time when we went to do the

shopping today, so we headed down a road

that I don't think I have ever been on before,

and there it was, the hole in the rock, they

call it Aussie Rock because of the shape

of the hole. You have to get it at the right angle,

I think you can nearly get the drift of it from my photo.

I thought the hole must have been this small

thing that you really had to look for,

and here is Tiff sitting in the cradle of the rock.

She had to climb the rock to get up there,

it is a lot bigger than either of us thought.

Here she is just lazing around.

My girl Tiff. I have not been taking many pics

of the girls while I have been messing around

taking the other photos, they think they have gotten away

with it, but I think I will drag them to a photo shoot somewhere soon.

Consider yourselves warned girls. Lol.

Day 87/365

Today's photo.

A very dusty sunset.

I left work a little earlier today so

that I could take this photo.

How was your day, the wind was so strong here,

it actually broke the gate behind the shop.

Made it extremely hard to shut at home time.

Blew the signs down out the front, and

brought in all the dust that was flying around from inland.

The fishermen all came in early, the sea was

a tad rough, so I had plenty of time to read, Lol.

I would have done some scrapping but

all my supplies went to the garage with my car.

Had the most god-awful noise in the back brakes,

a new set of pads and some brake cleaner

and it is so much quieter, and not as expensive as

I thought it might have been.

Have you ever been broken into?

How has your attitude towards people changed?

We have always prided ourselves on the way

we treat people, IE: equally, without bias.

Everyone is welcome in the shop, and we

expect people to treat us with the same respect we

treat them, after the weekend I am starting to

look at people differently, I mean how

am I to know that someone is not casing

the joint getting ready for the next break-in.

Someone asked for a discount today, which normally I

would have given without a thought, today

I said 'NO WAY' we were broken into and

can no longer afford to be so generous.

Later I felt like the meanest, nastiest person on

the planet, I don't think I even said it nicely.

The owner of the premises

is talking about putting security mesh all

around the windows, I get claustrophobia and

am a bit concerned that the caged in feeling

will get to me. Why should I be made to feel caged

in while some low-life is out there

probably laughing his A*&^ off

at our expense.

Day 86/365

Another day, another sunset.

I need a life.

Not that I am complaining, but I was

still getting customers at 5.30, that

only left me a few minutes to get over to the

boat ramp, where I could get a clear shot of the

setting sun. I was really hoping there

would be a pelican there, but no such luck.

I played with this one a little bit, I

needed to brighten it just a bit,

so that I could see the individual boats.

And a totally random photo

of pebbles and shells.

That is it for tonight.

I wish I had some scrapping for you all

to see, but alas I am too slack and

have not finished either of the

two Lo's that I have on the go.

Day 83/365

I took this from the front door of the shop on Friday.

It is not very clear, but I thought it was pretty

cool how many people went for a look

at the Marlin, I could see all their heads above the cars in the car park.

It was a 222kg Blue Marlin. Pretty impressive.

Day 84/365

I really have no idea what sort of bird this is,

I was sneaking up on them and doing a pretty good

job of it, when something spooked them and they all

flew away. I didn't know there was a man

was flying a kite behind me and

they probably got spooked by the shadow.

Mark thinks they might be Little Terns.

Day 85/365

Today's picture, or two photos.

This is the first flower I have seen on the

Arum Lily for ages, and when I got close

enough to take a photo I noticed the bee sitting

on the stamen.

And here is Tiff, she just finished giving Dennis the Menace

a hand full of grass. He is an X-circus horse that

lives down the road. We have had a lend of him

for a few days, he is best lawn mower

we have had for a long time.

So how was your weekend, ours was going along swimmingly until

yesterday morning when Mark went in to open the shop.

Some lowlife-waste-of-space-good-for-nothing-dregs-of-the-world

decided that he/they should break into

the shop again, and steal the rest of the fishing reels that

they missed 67 days ago when they broke in the first time.

We added extra locks and some braces after the last

time they got in, they worked a treat, they could

not get in through the door,

so they just smashed the window beside the door.

And then smashed the glass in the reel cabinet as well.

They cleaned us out of every reel in the two cupboards this time,

bad timing, Easter Sunday when we would

have made a heap of sales if we had the reels to sell.

This is the hole in the glass that the mongrels climbed

through to get into the shop.

They tried the back door as well, but the sensor lights

probably scared them away from there.

Hopefully fingerprint people will arrive tomorrow,

we cant do anything much until they do

their stuff, not that it will do much good.

On a better note, we had Tegan and Nesh down

for a visit over the weekend, it was so

good to see them both.

Sheri has gone back to Tumut with them.

We wont see her again until sometime next week,

have a brilliant break up there Sheri.

Day 81/365

Last nights pic. I made

Tiff come outside to play with sparklers.
Not the best pics but you get that sometimes.

Looking at that, no wonder the girls

were a bit scared to hold them the first time we used them.

Those sparks look scary.

Day 82/365
I have done it again, taken way too many photos,

and now I don't know which one to use.

So I will just show you all of them.

I noticed a family of 3 Red Tailed Black Cockatoo's

this morning when I was on my way to work.

Of course I had to stop to take a photo or two,

and yes I was extremely late getting to the shop.

I really was pretty close to them, like about 5 feet maybe,

they were so busy eating that they pretty much ignored me.

This photo looks like he is being really cheeky playing

boo with me or something.

I think they were having fun with me too,

they kept spitting the chewed up remains of what

they were eating at me. I would have said they were

dropping them but I was not standing directly under them.

I tried to take a photo of their beautiful tails,

this is the closest I got, they really are gorgeous.

Not that common around here, so I had to make

the most of this opportunity.

This is what they were eating, front of pic,

and what they looked like when they were finished,

pulverised mess at the back.

A bit of a naughty pic.

This one is for Shaz, I took this photo

sometime last year, the plant only flowers

like this once every few years.

It is some sort of philodendron.

According to the Nursery man I talked to,

I was supposed to take it in hand,

and give it a good rub up to pollinate it.

No thanks, I decided to pass on that particular 'pleasure'.
